Portfolio of Bills: Acceptance of Drafts, Discounting, Redemption, and Impayé
What to do when a client pays with a draft, LCN, or a post-dated check: how to accept the paper, what it covers for invoices, what happens during bank accounting, and how to process the return of unpaid paper.
Acceptance of Paper
- 1
Create an effect with its details
Section 'Traites' → 'Nouvel effet'. Specify the type (draft, LCN, check), tier, number, nominal value, and redemption date, attach a scan. Direction 'à encaisser' — for those received from clients, 'à payer' — for those issued to suppliers.
Important. A duplicate of the same effect from the same tier is rejected: waiting for one draft twice means counting the money twice in the forecast.
- 2
Indicate what the paper covers
The action 'Couvrir un document' links the effect with invoices. One draft can cover three invoices, two drafts can cover one; coverage can be partial. The remaining balance is visible in the card as 'Libre'.
Important. The system will not allow covering more than the nominal value: the paper cannot promise more than what is written on it.
